Watch for new dates!

Rose Island Playhouse presents the true story of a young girl, Helen Keller, trapped in a silent dark world, who finally learns to be a part of the rest of the world through the efforts of a persistent, dedicated teacher.

Helen is a bright, strong, energetic child who is left both blind and deaf in the wake of an illness as a baby.  The Kellers, in hopes of helping their beloved child, send for a governess, Annie Sullivan, from the prestigious Perkins Institute.  Driven by the demons of her own traumatic past, Annie fights to reach Helen and bring light to the darkness of her mind. Universal sorrows, family bonds, and the strength of the human spirit are explored in the amazing true story of two remarkable women.

This show is on hold until current restrictions are lifted. We hope to see you in April or May.

A Tribute.

Rose Island Community Theatre would like to pay tribute to Anna Mae (Spencer) Lewis, who passed away on June 25,2020. Anna Mae was a founding member of Rose Island and appeared as Sylvia Montgomery in our premiere production, The Wedding to Die For, on September 30, 2004. She went on to perform in several more productions. If Anna Mae wasn't appearing on stage, she was helping direct, selling program ads, helping with publicity, or working on scenery, props or costumes. She was an avid supporter of Rose Island and worked tirelessly to help bring the arts to her community. Anna Mae wrote and directed a play about the history of Charlestown for their bicentennial celebration. She was a lovely lady and will be missed dearly.

Goodbye, Anna Mae. May flights of angels sing the to thy rest.
